Our Story
ZanziTours & Safaris began in 2009 with one rusty Land Rover, a hand-drawn map of Stone Town, and our founder Rashid Abdul — a third-generation Zanzibari who couldn't stop telling guests the stories his grandfather had told him.
What started as guided walks through the old town grew, slowly, into a full atelier of bespoke journeys: spice farms, Jozani forest, Mnemba's reefs, the dhow harbour at sunset — and, later, mainland safaris into the Serengeti and Ngorongoro.
Today our team of authorised guides speaks five languages between them. We've stayed deliberately small so that every itinerary is built by hand, every reservation made personally, and every guest leaves with the kind of stories you can only get from someone who calls this place home.
What we believe
Every guide on our team was born and raised on the islands. They share what they love — not a memorised script.
We cap groups at six. Quieter experiences, faster reefs to ourselves, and time for the conversations that matter.
A portion of every booking funds reef restoration in Mnemba and education projects in Stone Town.
Licensed, insured and trusted by repeat travellers from over forty countries. We handle every detail.
